2012 AND ALL THAT

I write this because I get rather frustrated when I hear people mention this date, along with the Mayan calendar, as though it were a ‘doomsday’ prophecy predicted by an enlightened race.
A number of modern day Astronomers and ‘teachers’ tell us that on 21st December 2012 there will be a cosmic alignment with the centre of the Milky Way. A once every 26,000 (or so) years occurrence, and that this may cause an earth ‘wobble’ as the magnetic poles realign themselves.
Other would-be teachers are generally suggesting that ‘great changes are coming in 2012.’ Yet natural changes to the planet have been happening since its formation. It has constantly been in a state of geological flux, earthquakes have always occurred and volcanoes have periodically blown. The effects on those in proximity to the events have always varied from minor to severe.
Movement in the cosmos does have an effect, but again, this has been constantly occurring from the dawn of creation, because the cosmos is always in motion.
Our collective effect on the environment and even our thoughts can and do make a difference, but some things will always be. If there were no darkness, we would be less appreciative of sunshine.

Some ‘teachers’ suggest that 2012 will be a time when a ‘wonderful’ shift in consciousness will occur, turning those who remain into far more enlightened beings. While ‘those who are not ready for change’ passing either in some apocalyptic style occurrence or somehow ‘vanishing’ because their frequency won’t allow them to remain.

Have you seen this type of indoctrination before? Join us, believe, or you will perish? I expect so. Fear has been used by many factions, particularly religions, in the past. Many people will remember that the Jehovah’s Witnesses used to come out with certain apocalyptic dates, and if you hadn’t joined them before the date, you were told that you wouldn’t progress to heaven.

Most of the ‘teachings’ originate from the USA; a nation that built itself by taking ideas and finding the most lucrative way of marketing them. They are experts in sales techniques.
One video clip that I viewed featured an accomplished speaker spinning his ideas at a conference in a branch of the Hilton Hotel. His message was, according to him, vital, and he had (supposedly) been inspired, directed to enlighten the world with what he had discovered and ‘intuitively’ received.
No doubt his bank manager was likewise inspired when he saw the speakers’ account rocketing with tickets sold at who knows what each (the Hilton, like any high-status hotel, is very expensive).
What was the final ‘punch lines’ of his presentation? I can’t say, because if you want to know what he promoted as vital to ‘get out there’ it is only revealed to those who purchase tickets for his conferences or his accompanying CD or DVD. How kind of him?
We can take it from the above that the speaker, talking of how ‘enlightened’ we were all soon to be (or perish), obviously anticipates that money will still be a vital commodity after 2012!

The hustle or the marketing works because it offers you something you really want or think you need. In this case, it is foresight, foreknowledge of the future. They are selling you a dream; they are modern day fortune tellers. They are effectively saying, buy my product and the understanding it will give you may enable you to ‘align’ yourself with the ‘new’ frequencies and thus survive. To me this sounds similar to the Jehovah’s Witnesses promise; although instead of join us to be sure of your place in heaven, it sells you the possibility of physical survival upon earth. When 2012 comes and goes, no doubt a new date will be selected as the one you need to purchase advance awareness of.

What about those Mayans though, weren’t they an enlightened race?
I think it is fair to say that they had wonderful Astronomers. They mapped the stars, the constellations etc. and understood aspects that could only have been understood by centuries of study. So yes, they were very knowledgeable in this sense. But when the modern day hustlers try to associate their ideas with the Mayan calendar and reach all sorts of conclusions, they conveniently forget, or are blissfully unaware, that they are linking their product (teachings) with a primitive race. The Mayans were great at Astronomy, but at the same time they were still practising human sacrifice! They had a ritual where they cut the living heart from the victim. A deed believed to have been carried out on an altar at the top of a large pyramid, as featured on a BBC documentary.
Being expert at Astronomy doesn’t make the Mayan race great fortune tellers! Their calendar may have come to an end in 2012, but so what. Perhaps that is as far as they got before they perished? Does it matter? What records they kept suggested that 2012 would be a time of upheaval, but even if they had produced clearly definable teachings of how they saw the future, who would want to take notice of a race still practising human sacrifice?
I have also seen some footage of those we were informed were descendents of the Incas who have also given us an apocalyptic warning about 2012. But how did they gain this ‘enlightenment?’ In their culture it is common practice to take hallucinogenic drugs! So it was while in this drug induced state that they gained their foresight! If you ever watch a TV documentary that involves such customs you will already be aware that quite often the participants suffer nightmarish consequences. So once again, in my opinion, whatever ‘message’ that is forthcoming under these circumstances is tarnished and has already been proven worthless on many occasions. Historically, primitive races, just like all of our ancestors, have always been fearful of nature.
Incidentally, the 21st December is the shortest day, or longest night, traditionally a time of change. The Christians slotted Xmas, the symbolic birthday of Jesus, into this date.

Anyone who believes that by the close of 2012 those humans who remain will somehow be far more enlightened, and live in a new paradise upon earth, lacks understanding of how the soul evolves.
The progression of the soul cannot happen in a sudden flash of inspiration or influx of a ‘new’ frequency to the planet. Higher frequencies have always been ‘available’ to us. But we can only ‘access’ them and link with minds from those levels when we have progressed sufficiently to do so.
This cannot happen ‘overnight;’ it is a gradual process requiring centuries of linear time, one step after another, as we climb the spiritual ladder of evolution. For analogy: the monkey does not wake up one morning in the same body and find that he has the understanding of the human. Progression of the indwelling spirit is a truth; the spirit of any monkey, dog, cat etc. will one day individualise and progress to expression through human (or equivalent) form. It is part of the spiritual chain of life. The lower gradually progresses to become the higher. But the process takes thousands upon thousands of earthly years.
Unfortunately, one only has to look around to realise that most humans upon this planet still have a long spiritual climb ahead of them before the day comes when they will be ready for any sort of earthly paradise. Then again, why an earthly paradise? When one reaches the mind level that radiates a level of progression that we might truly call ‘enlightened,’ the need to inhabit the earth in physical form will have come to an end. Why then would an enlightened soul choose to inhabit restricted form when they have earned the right to progress through far superior levels of mind development and progression?

As I have already said, some of these ‘new age’ preachers/salesmen suggest that ‘those not ready for change’ will somehow ‘vanish’ because their frequency won’t allow them to remain. But this idea can only be believed by those who do not understand spirit progression, the evolution of the soul.
As I have also said, the spirit that presently progresses through many animal forms, particularly those with human contact, will one day individualise at the human level of consciousness. Furthermore, in the same way that Darwin taught the evolution of the species, spirit energy (life) likewise evolves through every kingdom of nature. Through mineral, plant, insect, animal to higher animal: human.
Therefore, if ‘those not ready for change’ were to vanish ‘because their frequency won’t allow them to remain,’ then with them would go every animal, insect, plant and mineral! The planet would basically be barren and bereft of all life, and likely disintegrate. It would not become a ‘paradise,’ it would become a hell.

Earth, and any planet that similarly plays host to spirit evolution through physical form, to serve its purpose and to exist, must always embrace form at all levels of progression. It can be no other way.

We will never have a planet that accommodates only those spiritually evolved. But we can have a planet where more who have reached the human level of consciousness are better educated about the spiritual realities, preferably from childhood. Then we will have a world with less conflict, fewer atrocities, and greater harmony. Perhaps, in time, the planet worldwide will live in peace? I’m sure that such a time will one day come, but, unfortunately, collectively we are not ready for it yet.

There is no cosmic ‘magic wand’ headed our way to bring paradise to earth. Enlightenment (however we choose to define this) has to be earned by personal effort, as gradually we climb the spiritual ladder of progression.
