YOU’RE GOING TO DIE … THAT’S WONDERFUL NEWS
By James McQuitty 2009

Introduction
It is quite possible that the above title will have shocked and even infuriated some people? (But at least I got their attention!)
The reason why it may seem shocking is because few amongst us think deep enough to grasp the greater significance of eternal life.
I hope that they don’t now think that I’ve insulted them! Because it certainly isn’t easy to reach anywhere near the stage of enlightenment when one can grasp the bigger picture and not be swept along by the everyday physicality of life upon this earthplane. One has to constantly bring one’s thoughts back to the reason for physical incarnation, to effectively retune to the greater truth.
This is not to say that the pain and suffering of all life forms does not upset and sadden me, for it does. In fact, if I did not have my knowledge and understanding of the true nature of eternal life, I would likely have gone mad with sadness and heartache many years ago. For the needless destruction of life for monetary gain, such as the murder of elephants for their tusks, used to sadden me to the point of despair, when I no longer wished to live upon this cruel and at times wicked planet.
For a number of years I had to stop viewing the TV news which seems to me to be the most negative influence upon society today. Not that some newspaper headlines and stories are any less depressing. How many suicides are these media productions at least partially responsible for I wonder? If any reader is at all susceptible to depression, I would most definitely suggest to them that they avoid watching and reading such programmes and publications. Everyone else will tell you what is happening in the world without you having to pay any particular attention! Which emphasises my point of how they are constantly bombarding society with negative vibrations, reinforcing a sense of fear into the minds of an already fear based population.
Returning to the subject of my leaflet title, those who have recently ‘lost’ someone or have a loved one or dear friend currently approaching the end of their allotted lifespan, perhaps through ‘terminal’ disease, may very well regard my title as insensitive and inappropriate?
Yet I feel that it is time for us to stop being restrained by concerns that we might ‘upset’ people by speaking about the true facts of eternal life. Sensitivity is all very well and good; yet in the majority of cases, or so it seems to me, it comes at the expense of education to the facts of eternal life.
Even the bereaved are so often left to grieve in ignorance, and spiritual education is withheld. Yet such occasions afford the opportunity to teach and help ease the anguish; and in the long term to give far greater solace than all the sympathy in the world can ever do.
It is time for truth to come out and be talked about so that people are aware of the true nature of all life. Naturally, it would be far better if this knowledge was known before the occasion of any bereavement.
‘Death’ is not a sad time! It is a time of celebration in many ways. It is ‘wonderful news.’ It may not seem so to those with no understanding of eternal life who are ‘left behind.’ But certainly it heralds a time of passing to a far nicer and fairer life for the person that undertakes the transition.
Once again, I can wholeheartedly understand that people can and will be saddened, to say the least, by ‘death,’ particularly if it is sudden and, on a conscious level, unexpected. The ‘death’ of a child, for instance, must be almost unbearable to face and come to terms with. Especially for those who do not have any knowledge or understanding of eternal life.
Can I succeed in lightening the load and awakening them to a brighter day by telling them that not only do we all continue to live, but that many that pass in even the most seemingly tragic circumstances, probably planned to do so before birth? Furthermore, the grieving parent, relative or friend will themselves have been privy to this pre-planned intention. This I will discuss in a little more detail in a short while.
To begin with though, before I progress to the positive aspects of what I wish to say, my first two chapters deal with the negative influences that are all too rife in this world. Please do bear with me, for these chapters will, hopefully, lay the foundations to a greater understanding.

1. ‘Death’ - The Taboo Subject
In many countries throughout the world the subject of ‘death’ is almost taboo. People live in fear of their demise, frightened to talk of it as though this will conjure ‘the grim reaper’ to their door. They may also be frightened that they will have to contemplate what, if anything is to follow.
You might ask why people should be so fearful when proof of eternal life can so easily be obtained. The answer, to a large degree, is because of orthodox religion.
Some people could argue this point and say that religions teach of an afterlife, of a heaven where eternal bliss awaits all good people - of their particular faith.
Indeed, this is so. But their version will no doubt have strings attached. In Christianity, for example, you are required to be baptised into their faith, usually with parents or guardians having to promise to educate you in the faith. As babies, many people’s lives are sworn away to one of indoctrinated mental servitude.
Okay, I may be exaggerating a little, at least in Britain, for many parents have their children baptised as a social occasion, a family get together to celebrate a new birth, and thankfully never take their promises to the clergy too seriously. The clergy would say that the promise is to God; but the Power of All Life – God, by whatever name, does not hold anyone to petty earthplane promises!
Yet some people do take their faith very seriously, and particularly in countries like the USA, thousands upon thousands (probably millions) are indoctrinated to extreme degree. So much so that they become fanatics who are just as likely to commit atrocities in the name of their faith, as any Middle Eastern terrorist who has similarly been brainwashed by their own brand of religion.
Yet all this need not be so, for religion is based upon ignorance and fear. It fosters it, welcomes it to its dogma and doctrines, adores it and embraces it, and likewise preaches it to those unfortunate enough to have fallen under its spell. Religion is like a giant spider that has spread its web of deceit and lies far and wide and attempts to ensnare and consume those who stumble into its trap. The weak, the vulnerable, the lonely, those most easily led, it welcomes all those who tow the party-line and ask no challenging questions.
Those who are open-minded and seek greater understanding, rather than blindly accepting that ‘God works in mysterious ways’ or that ‘it is not for us to question,’ are thrown out as trouble makers and non-believers. In times past they would have been called heretics, tortured, and then put to ‘death.’
This, I believe, is the root cause why ‘death’ is considered a taboo subject by so many people. It has become part of the psyche of most people, including those who do not follow any organised religion, to refrain from discussing the subject. In times past it was through fear of being branded a heretic. Sometimes today it is through fear of ridicule, or because they think that they will embarrass themselves, for they understand so little. While on occasions, such as a funeral, they fear upsetting others or that any enquiry will be met with disapproval – ‘don’t ask, it’s not for us to question,’ once again.
The fear that religions have instilled within the psyche of humankind runs deep. The reason why it runs so deep is probably down to a combination of factors, not least the threat of damnation to a mythical hell of never-ending punishment, torture and misery. That was certainly enough to frighten the majority of our forbearers (and some today) into blind obedience. They were quite familiar with the fact that people could be subjected to such mistreatment in physical life, the thought of this continuing for eternity didn’t bear thinking about! This easily kept the majority repressed, as obedient sheep; and the rest fearful of speaking out or questioning the power of the church.
Today, the damage to the psyche is further overlaid by Hollywood and other film makers, and by fictional literature, that instils fear that demons lurk around every corner, or that evil spirits want to control us. In particular they portray the ‘devil’ (a fictional character) seeking to possess someone so that ‘he’ can ultimately rule the world. (In many ways, could organised religion itself be considered the major evil that has tried to rule the world?)
In these films or novels it is so often a member of the clergy, wearing a large cross and muttering Latin phrases, who ‘magically’ succeeds in overcoming the ‘beast.’ Implying and reinforcing the ‘message’ that we can only be saved through faith and religion, that it is they alone who have sufficient understanding and the ability to safeguard our souls.
All of this and much more has led to the subject of ‘death’ being taboo to the layperson, for they feel unqualified to speak or question.
Perversely, if they did ask more questions, they would find that the majority of the clergy also have no answers or true understanding, and that is precisely why they do not like questioning minds who cannot be fobbed off with ‘it’s not for us to question.’
Yet in a true democratic and open-minded society we should be encouraged to question, because we are eternal spirit beings who have the right to understand our true status in eternity.
When religions attempt to deny this fundamental human right, they effectively try to enslave us. Slavery of the mind is slavery of the spirit.

2. Fear – The Human Disease
We fear so much in life it’s a wonder that we ever find time to enjoy any part of the experience! We fear a lack of money, poverty, starvation, disease and pain, and these concerns are bad enough without the petty worries that so many people indulge in. Such as a desire to be seen to conform to the ‘norm,’ or to wear colour coordinated clothing, and the thousands more worries that most people allow themselves to indulge in.
Name any subject from romance to food, haircuts to spectacles, height to fashion, and you will find those fearful of whether they are normal, adequate, or lacking in some capacity. With plenty more people trying to convince you that you need their product to effectively alleviate the fear.
The human race has become so enslaved to fear that to live without it would seem strange! Yet without doubt the greatest fear that the human race embraces is that of ‘death;’ all other fears fade into insignificance by comparison.
This is emphasised by TV and cinema productions of ‘death’ and destruction. Whether portraying a futuristic world following a catastrophic war or the aftermath of a natural disaster, the remaining people are shown going to any lengths to survive. ‘Death’ remains their greatest fear.
When someone gets older their physical mortality becomes more noticeably obvious to them. ‘Death’ is feared through ignorance of what is to follow. They may also fear the manner that their inevitable passing will take. Will it be one of drawn-out suffering? Will it be physically painful? While a fear that they may lose mental agility worries some.
Many still fear ‘death’ on ‘religious’ grounds; a fear of judgement, punishment, damnation and of a hell awaiting them; with some people these fears are very much in their conscious thoughts, while for others such worries linger in their deeper or subconscious thoughts.
People fear the unknown. They know that one day they must undertake the journey of the soul, but it frightens them because they do not know what to expect and what will await them. Such thoughts cause people to feel ‘out of control,’ so they do not like to talk of such matters because of the fear that it generates within them.
They fear their passing and its manner; they fear that their inner secrets and true character will be revealed and that they will be judged and sentenced; they fear leaving their loved ones behind, perhaps to care for themselves, and the fact that they will miss being with them or seeing them grow older. So much fear is of the unknown. Yet all can be known, and fear of ‘death’ need not exist.

3. ‘Death’ – The Good News
No matter how you pass, whether through general deterioration of the body in old age, through disease – cancer etc., or the result of a road traffic ‘accident’ or similar; ‘death’ can be considered good news.
It can be considered good news because it means that you may very well have achieved all that you came for and that your purpose in this lifetime is fulfilled.
I do not believe that this is always the case though, for some lifetimes are cut shorter than the pre-birth life plan by ‘unscheduled’ physical intervention. This, quite obviously, can happen because we all have free will. But it is not the end of life; it is the beginning of a new chapter.
Some spirit teachers say that there is no such thing as an accident. They are quite right! This does sound like a contradictory statement, but it is not. There are no accidents because behind all that happens there is a cause. The cause may be a bad or inadequate diet, a faulty vehicle, the actions of another, or even the consequences of some natural disaster, as it might be called. The outcome is the effect, whether consciously planned or not.
In some cases accidents are planned before birth. This may sound unlikely, but it is true. There may and very likely will be, good reason for this. Perhaps, before birth, an early passing was considered desirous for the particular incarnation and yet the natural health of the body would not easily accommodate the acceleration of a suitable disease, so the choice of passing through accident was selected and planned.
But more likely, the abrupt end served a more meaningful purpose. Perhaps to teach what it was like to suddenly lose one’s life when all seemed so good? It could also be to teach others how to cope in adversity, or a mixture, teaching the one passing and one or more others. (These are only examples; there may be other and many reasons from the viewpoint of the spirit).
When people mourn a passing through such as cancer, and bemoan ‘what a dreadful disease it is,’ they fail to realise that it serves a great purpose. The predisposition to develop this or any other particular disease existing in the body chemistry of a family can prove a useful tool to the spirit. They know before birth that they wish to pass earlier than would seem a full life cycle. Disease allows them to do so. If all disease was eliminated from the physical form then the spirit would have to pass by ‘accident’ or find some other method of early termination.
In a sense, humankind wastes their time in pursuit of cures to such diseases. Not that we shouldn’t try to help; for it is impossible to be absolutely sure that the disease hasn’t been inadvertently triggered by diet (allergy, chemicals etc) or by inadvertent negative thought processes, or some other factor that wasn’t pre-planned before birth. In other words, in each individual case we (including the sufferer), should first look for the cause, before searching for a drug cure that may not be necessary if the cause is removed. If the cause isn’t eliminated, problems are far more likely to reoccur anyway.
Although, if we did ever manage to eliminate cancer or any other major disease, another would probably come along to replace it!
This sounds cruel and fatalistic, but it is not.
The spirit is pleased to have ways in which it can terminate its link to the physical form. This is because the physical form is only a temporary housing that serves a purpose and then is left behind.
Life in spirit is infinitely better than life in physical form. So why would we as spirit beings want to remain ‘trapped’ in the servitude of the physical form any longer than is necessary to teach us or others what we came here for. This is to experience particular ‘lessons’ so that we may learn at the physical level of vibration.
‘Death’ is good news to the spirit; it frees it from the drudgery of human existence. When it first returns to spirit life, for a time it may not recall the reasons for its recent incarnation; and whether it does so or not it may wish to communicate with loved ones on the earthplane. Awakening to ones own pre-birth plans and reasons for incarnation and passing, early or not, may take a while to be reintroduced to the spirit. Eventually though, we all realise and remember the reasons why we chose to live the last lifetime. Communication may naturally still be sought, for one would realise that those left behind may have need of reassurance of continuous life and seek guidance in their own lives.

4. Incarnation – The Teacher
We learn upon the physical level of vibration because we are all engaged upon an infinite journey of soul progression, and before we can master the dizzy heights that await us in eternity, we must learn all the lessons that the physical, and slowest level of vibration, can teach us.
The earthplane and physical embodiment is therefore a stepping stone in our eternal progression.
I have detailed many of the life lessons that we need to experience, and other relative information, in some of my other publications: Over the Rainbow, The Meaning of Life etc. Briefly, the lessons embrace aspects of compassion, courage, charity, dedication, faith, forgiveness, generosity, honesty, kindness, patience, responsibility, self-love, and ultimately unconditional love, and more.
If you sit and think for a moment you will soon realise that each of these can have multiple aspects to them, and many ways in which they can be encountered and embraced. This is why we need and choose to experience many incarnations; and these enable us to experience them in innumerable ways through various forms of expression.
In some lifetimes, whether as male or female, (for the spirit needs to experience both polarities), we experience being in positions of power; and/or we will be wealthy and perhaps famous. In others we will be downtrodden and poor. We will have lifetimes when we are healthy and happy; and others when we will be in misery and/or diseased and may pass so young that it will seem to others that our lifetime served no purpose, as a baby or stillborn for instance. Yet there is always a purpose and lessons to be learned by all who are touched by the experience.
